A Little TLC Went A Long Way On Toni And
Thomas’s Tri-State Siding Replacement
A Voluntary Act Of Kindness By Victory Staff
Turns A Siding Project Into So Much More
People in need of a Tri-State area siding replacement come from all walks of life. Sometimes, things are going well for them. But they may also be facing seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Unfortunately, this was the case with Toni and Thomas of Toms River, NJ. Not only was their beloved daughter facing a dire cancer diagnosis. Thomas himself was dealing with serious medical issues.
The couple hired Victory Home Remodeling for our siding expertise. But after hearing about their situation, several members of our team felt compelled to do more.
So, on the Sunday before the project got underway, we gathered at their home to tackle a few side projects for them. It wasn't much in the grand scheme of things, but the couple was grateful. And we were happy we could do even the smallest thing to lighten this wonderful family’s day-to-day burden.
A Major Need For A New Siding Installation
When our team member, Ron, first met Toni and Thomas, their need for new siding was clear. Not only was their existing siding in poor condition. It was asbestos-based.
Algae growth had also overtaken the exterior of their home. Its telltale signs were apparent around their windows and gutters, and on the siding itself.
The couple knew they needed help. However, such matters had taken a back seat to concerns over Thomas's and his daughter's health.
Still, after talking things over with Ron, they decided that a Victory siding replacement was too good to pass up. So, they signed their remodeling contract and set a start date for the project.
Ron Calls For Local Volunteers In The Tri-State Area
After hearing about the challenges facing Toni and Thomas, Ron wanted to do something special for them. So, on the spot, he promised to come back the day before their project got underway.
His purpose? Fixing up a few things around the house and taking them off the couple’s overwhelming to-do list.
But Ron quickly decided that wasn’t enough. Why do just a little bit when so much more is possible with a team approach? With this idea fresh in his mind, he made the call for volunteers from Victory staff members living in the area.
Tackling A Few Projects Before Siding Replacement
At Victory Home Remodeling, building a better world is a company-wide priority. And that’s not just a slogan. It’s an ethic we carry with us every day.
Given this fact, it’s really no surprise that Ron’s call was answered in full. In total, seven volunteers made their way to the couple’s home on the eve of their scheduled siding replacement.
Soon, this impromptu crew was hard at work. What did we do for Toni and Thomas?
For starters, we power-washed the exterior areas that fell outside the scope of their siding project. These areas included their back patio, as well as their gutters and windows.
We also decided to do a bit of landscaping work for the couple. Before long, we successfully replanted their front yard flower bed.
Toni And Thomas Say Thank You – With Food!
Needless to say, Toni and Thomas weren’t expecting this random act of kindness. They only wanted someone to do a great job on their siding project.
And to be honest, we didn’t do the work for personal praise or recognition on Victory’s behalf. We just saw that we could do something good for a Tri-State area family in need.
Nevertheless, we didn’t say no when they decided to do something nice for us in return. Especially since their way of saying thanks was a fantastic, home-cooked Italian meal!
The Couple’s New Siding Installation
The next day, one of our expert exterior remodeling crews arrived on-site. Their first task was carefully removing the home’s old asbestos siding.
This is a critical job that requires strict compliance with established safety guidelines. The same is true for the disposal of the asbestos-based material once it’s removed.
With the old siding properly handled and removed from the property, it was time for the new siding to be installed. Before long, Toni and Thomas’s home was re-clad in our durable, beautiful, insulated siding. The transformation was like night and day.
During the job, one of our installers accidentally damaged one of the flowers in the redone front bed. Toni was understandably upset to see this happen.
But no worries. Shortly after the installation was completed, we came back out and planted another one in its place.
